When is fishing season at Lake Athabasca Lodge?
In northern Saskatchewan the angling season opens May 25, 2011 and closes April 15, 2012. Lake Athabasca Lodge is open from June to October.
Can a beginner angler come to Lake Athabasca Lodge?
Yes. Our fishing packages are fully guided and for those needing lessons or instruction, a guide will be more than happy to assist you. Lake Athabasca is a great spot to learn the sport of fishing.
How do we fish Lake Athabasca?
We use 18 ft Lund boats with 40hp-4 stroke motors for Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Walleye. You can also try your hand at fly-fishing for Arctic Grayling right from shore on our island as well as from several other small islands.
What fishing equipment should I bring?
We supply complimentary fishing rods and tackle for Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Walleye. All equipment is next to new or new. If you break or loose rods, reels or tackle we would appreciate being compensated for the loss. Fly fisherman must supply their own rods, reels and tackle.
What type of weather should I expect?
The Saskatchewan climate is four-season and variable. Spring, summer, fall and winter are distinct, and temperatures can fluctuate. Saskatchewan summers are usually warm and dry. High temperatures range from 15 C (60 F) in May to the mid-30s C (90-95 F) in July and August. We are one of the sunniest destinations in Canada. Nights tend to be cool. Winter normally begins in November and temperatures generally remain below the freezing point. Mild spring weather usually begins by April.

We provide packaging preparations for tranport of retained fish.
Where can I get a Saskatchewan angling licence?
There are a number of types of licences available to residents and non-residents of Canada. Licenses are available at Lake Athabasca Lodge. They are not included in our prices.
